Copley to remove snow, ice on Wheaton Place streets
The Copley Township Board of Trustees approved a recommendation during the Nov. 18 meeting authorizing the township service department to perform snow removal and ice control on streets in the Wheaton Place subdivision.
Trustees have agreed to accept the streets and dedicated township roads, but final approval by Summit County Council has been held up by the finalization of stormwater maintenance assessments by the Summit County Engineer’s Office. Final approval is not expected until after snowfall is likely, trustees said.
Trustees also accepted a settlement agreement with police officer Kristen Dunleavy and her representative, the Fraternal Order of Police/Ohio Labor Council Inc. Dunleavy filed a grievance against the township alleging unfair treatment. Dunleavy used accrued vacation, sick leave and holiday time when light duty was not made available to her. The agreement reinstates all time used by Dunleavy, who now is back to work on full duty, said township Administrator Peggy Spraggins.
The board also heard from Stanley Katanic, of Pulte Homes, who told the board Pulte Homes looks forward to finishing its development at Montrose Park. The township is in litigation with Pulte Homes over terms of an earlier settlement regarding the development.
Ron Hine asked trustees about resolution of a request by township residents at the last meeting to place a nativity scene at Copley Circle. Trustee Helen Humphrys said she had met with the Rev. Becky Verbridge, of Copley United Methodist Church, as well as representatives of the Copley Fire and Rescue Association and others about the circle decorations. Humphrys said the group had settled on white lights and a sign stating “Peace on Earth and Goodwill to All.”
In other business, the board:
