Akron Children’s Hospital’s Palliative Care Center

DOWNTOWN AKRON — Pink Floyd tribute act Wish You Were Here will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the album Animals with a benefit for Akron Children’s Hospital’s Palliative Care Center March 4 at 8 p.m. at the Akron Civic Theatre, 182 S. Main St. Performing the landmark 1977 album in its entirety, as well as Pink Floyd’s greatest hits, classics and obscurities to the accompaniment of new video, laser and lighting effects, the 2017 tour debut show will be the band’s third and largest production ever at the Civic. Formed in 1987 as Harvest Pink Floyd Revue, one of the first bands in America to pay tribute to Pink Floyd, the band rebooted in 1995 as Wish You Were Here. Their 2013 and 2015 benefit performances in conjunction with the Civic have raised over $20,000 for Akron Children’s Hospital and also Cassidy’s Hope Foundation. Akron Children’s Haslinger Family Pediatric Palliative Care Center, this year’s beneficiary, provides care to children with complex, chronic or serious conditions and their families, enhancing quality of life in partnership with cure-directed care, according to event officials. Tickets range from $15 to $50 and are available at the Civic Box Office, by calling 330-253-2488, at www.akroncivic.com or through TicketMaster at 800-745-3000.
